RDS London has supported many researchers with their proposals since their launch in July 2009 and the value of this guidance has started to show through the number of RDS London supported applications receiving funding. See below some case studies of those who have received funding

Janet Treasure
An evaluation of the Expert Carer Helping Others (ECHO) intervention to determine whether support to improve the functioning of carers also benefits the sufferers of anorexia nervosa.
 
 
 
Jonathon Olsburgh
A study which evaluates whether early stent removal will reduce complications such as infection and pain when compared to current practice. Project summary: During kidney transplant surgery a plastic tube (stent) is placed in the transplant ureter, between the kidney and bladder.
 
 
 
Joanna Moncrieff
The development and preliminary evaluation of a Medication Review Tool for those taking antipsychotic medication. Project summary: The project involves qualitative interviews with patients with psychosis to determine their experience of taking medication and the information they are given about it.
 
 
 
Catherine Oakley
A study to determine how risks associated with blood infection are conveyed and interpreted by chemotherapy patients and their carers’. Project summary: A side effect of cancer chemotherapy is the development of a life threatening blood infection called neutropenic sepsis, which causes a significant number of hospital admissions each year.
 
 
 
Charles Knowles
An exploratory study comparing two neurostimulation techniques in the treatment of a bowel disorder. Project summary: Faecal incontinence (FI) is a common and distressing condition that is often poorly responsive to changes in diet or drug treatment.
